More fun Ironman Pictures

This was the shirt I bought John to wear on race day. :)

140.6 miles in one day...seems crazy huh? 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run. Seems even crazier now!

Hanging out on the bike course. This was a picture of the "antsy" look...he didn't quite like sitting in the stroller waiting on daddy for hours. :) Overall though, he did really great...he's a wonderful race baby!!

This was a picture from the top of the space needle in Seattle. I love my boys!

This was Barry holding up the 21 pound salmon we bought from the Pike's Place Fish Market in Seattle. Barry cut the fish up into individual servings and we have enough fish to last us 6 months if we eat it once a week!!! Wow!! :)

How to pass time at an Ironman when you are 2

Well, seeing that a day at an Ironman race is an entire day...and I do mean entire day, you have to find ways to occupy a toddler. You see, we got to the race site at around 5:30 a.m., and Barry didn't actually start the race until 7:00 a.m. Then, you proceed to spend 10 hours watching Barry transition from the swim to the bike to the run...all the while seeing him for tidbits at a time and being able to yell really quickly "go Barry!" Or in John's case, "Go Daddy go!" I absolutely love race day and have no problem standing on a street curb for hours, but that doesn't exactly work for a toddler...they get a little antsy and need to exert their energy somewhere they can run free. Thankfully, this race site had a wonderful park nearby, so we took some time out to have some toddler free time. Here's a few photos of the fun.

There was this big green curvy slide that John was very interested in. He was scared to go down it at first, but then a few other kids went down and he couldn't let them show him up. Here he is about to go down the slide for the first time, there is some definite worry in his eyes. :)

Yay mommy, I made it safely to the bottom! I'm not really sure he let himself have fun the first time...I think he needed to know that the end of the slide didn't send him into a foreign land or something. He went down several more times and loved it though.

This boy loves to swing! It was really cold outside, but that didn't stop him from wanting to swing and let the cool, and I do mean COOL, breeze in his face. :)

I just love this expression. He's just sitting there enjoying the swing.

I love playing in the sand!

John went down on the beach to help daddy after the swim practive...he figured he could give daddy some swim techniques. :) While he was on the beach, he noticed this remarkable stuff called SAND! It was everywhere and it was just begging to be played with. We found a shovel on the beach and then John went to town!

Look mom....a shovel! I wonder what I can do with this.

Hey, look at me...I can pick up sand with my shovel!

Now how in the world did he get sand all over his mouth??? Hmmmmm.

I bet it would be really funny if I dumped this sand on mommy. (insert mischevious laugh!)

Hanging out at the Ironman Race Site

The first morning we were in Coeur D'Alene, we headed to the race site to pick up Barry's bike and watch him do a practice swim. John had fun seeing all the athletes and watching daddy take part in the swimming "fun." I use quotes for fun because the water temperature was in the low 60's....brrrrr!!!

He was just being funny as we waited for Barry to get his bike.
This is the infamous "cheese" face. :)

Here's Barry getting ready for his practice swim.

John watching daddy swim.

The first posts from the Ironman trip....finally!

Well I'm finally getting around to posting some pictures from the Ironman trip in June. Two months behind isn't so bad, right? :) The trip was really wonderful...we flew into Seattle and enjoyed spending all day and afternoon the first day before traveling to Coeur D'Alene, Idaho that afternoon. We rented a house in CDA and it was the cutest and most quaint house ever! Plus, they had a gorgeous backyard and beautiful flowers surrounding the house. The house owners were the sweetest people too...we were very lucky to find that place! Here are a few pictures of being at the house.

This was our view from the back porch. Everything was so lush and green.

John really liked all the flowers and wanted to check them all out.

Here he's leaning in to smell the flowers.

This was him taking a nap the first day we were there...talk about being zonked!

These are the beautiful flowers that surrounded the house. If only I could grow something as pretty as that...all I am capable of doing is growing weeds or dead flowers. :)

The ultimate "muscle" suit!

Watch out ladies! John seems to have really bulked up this summer. :) These pictures are from the first pool outing earlier this summer. John's Mawmaw and Daddy John bought this swimsuit with built-in floaties and it was quite cute on John. He was a little hesitant of the water, so daddy tried to ease him in. His favorite part seemed to be having snack after swimming...that's my boy! :) We have taken him to the pool several times since this outing and now he LOVES it...we have a little swimmer for sure!

Such mighty muscles!

Trying out this whole "swim" thing with daddy.

There was something captivating his attention...probably snack. :)

Just chillin by the pool. Whoa, John made need to lay
off the extra snacks. :) heh! heh!

More fun outside

We've had a lot of fun this summer just playing in the backyard with bubbles and water hoses. These are some pictures from earlier in the summer when we were just having some simple fun. The first picture is quite funny...I promise there wasn't anything "illegal" in the bee bubble blower. :)

John and Lily

We had a great July that included John's second birthday and spending time with Lily. I have quite a few blogs to catch up on regarding our Seattle trip, John's birthday, and a recent trip to the aquarium with Lily and her family.

In the meantime, you will just have to enjoy these sweet pictures from church Saturday night. John wanted to hold Lily's hand when we were leaving so we had to have a small photo session. :).
